If you have a new addition to the family, you may experience at least one - if not both - of these two common healthcare concerns: Thrush and GERD.

If you have any questions about your baby’s health - no matter how big or small - KixCare's Kix360° membership gives you 24/7 access to Pediatric Registered Nurses.

Our KixNurses are ready to answer your questions, assess your baby’s symptoms, provide advice, and create a care plan for your little one to achieve their health and wellness goals.

With Kix360°, you can also access Nurse Practitioners who support our KixNurses for diagnoses, prescriptions, and referrals to Pediatricians and Allied Healthcare Professionals such as Therapists, Dietitians, Lactation and Sleep Consultants, and many more specialized pediatric experts!

Let’s discuss these healthcare concerns and what you can do to make your newborn more comfortable.

Thrush

If you’re a mom, you’ve heard of thrush. Thrush is a common mouth infection that typically occurs in infants.

Thrush looks like clusters of white patches on the inside of your baby’s cheek, the roof of the mouth, or the tongue. The patches look very similar to milk patches but will not rub off if it's thrush.

The good news is that thrush is not painful for your baby and can be easily treated when needed!

If you think your baby might have thrush, join Kix360° and talk to a KixNurse today. They can assess your baby’s symptoms, provide health teaching and support, and, if needed, refer you to the Nurse Practitioner or Pharmacist for a prescription.

Our health and wellness membership, Kix360°, offers 24/7 access to our team of specialized pediatric Registered Nurses who can give our KixFamilies: support and advice about their child’s condition, explain why they need the prescription, and how to take the prescribed medication, as well as providing ongoing management throughout the presenting illness - which the pharmacist may not be able to provide.

Our KixFamilies also have access to our pediatric Nurse Practitioners, who can diagnose, prescribe and make referrals to Pediatricians and Allied Healthcare Professionals as needed.

This allows families to feel supported during their urgent care concerns, but in addition to any urgent care matters, no matter how big or small the concern or question is, Kix360° is here to support all of your child(ren)’s health and wellness goals.

GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease)

GERD is a condition that causes babies to throw up after feeding. It occurs when the esophagus’s sphincter isn’t closing correctly.

Most babies experience throw-up after eating; this is called GER (without the D for disease!), which is not a disease, unlike GERD. Still, GERD is easily recognizable as your baby will show visible signs of discomfort, such as arching their back at feeding time.

If you think your little one has GERD, join Kix360° and talk to a KixNurse today. They can advise you on the next steps and create a feeding plan for your baby so they can meet their nutritional and developmental goals.
